A Year of New Beginnings for Chinese Embassy
As the Chinese celebrate the start of the new year - the Year of the Dog - the Chinese Embassy in Jamaica also said farewell to the Chinese Ambassador to Jamaica Niu Qingbao.
In a new year and farewell reception at The Jamaica Pegasus hotel on Friday, February 15, the ambassador told his guests and embassy staff, "All the achievements of the embassy are due to your hard work and achievements. I would not have achieved anything without your input and implementation."
He spoke of the mutual support between his homeland and host country, highlighting the numerous areas of economic cooperation. "Construction of the office building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade is proceeding as planned, two kindergarten schools - (in Kingston and Morant Bay) will hopefully be open to hundreds of children by the end of the year. Preparations are under way for the construction of the western children's hospital, and the building of the Confucius institution at UWI," revealed the ambassador.
Minister of Justice Delroy Chuck, declared that every beginning has an ending, as he reflected on another successful Chinese year, and the diligent work of the Chinese ambassador.
In closing, the ambassador said, "I have a last favour to ask of you, take good care of my successor and give him your full support as you have given me."
After a presentation of the ambassador and his work, the night ended with a bountiful buffet dinner of Chinese and Jamaican delicacies.
