CashWiz gives back to Jamaica

CashWiz Jamaica is not only part of the international CashWiz empire, but is the beacon of change in several inner-city communities as it touches the lives of the youth across the island.
The company recently adopted the Windsor Lodge Children's Home in Mandeville, and the Newlands Basic School in Portmore, to assist in providing students with the necessary equipment to improve their learning environment.
CashWiz Jamaica also launched their islandwide medical programme, lead by Dr Clevert Bachaas, which provides access to medical examinations free of cost.
"Our aim is to have this medical programme annually so we can help our community. I must commend the leadership of CashWiz for their visionary approach and I'm happy to be able to help," said Dr Bachaas.
"One of CashWiz's six core values is being a 'caring neighbour', and as such, it is a part of our culture," said Lilieth Douglas, head of Cashwiz Jamaica. Douglas emphasised that a good education is key to success and every child should be given the opportunity to learn.
"We believe that everyone has a right to medical care and our contribution will make a difference. CashWiz Jamaica is committed to giving back," continued Douglas.
CashWiz's mentorship programme, is a recent addition to their outreach, which focuses on assisting with six students across the island, covering all cost pertaining to transportation, meals, school fees, uniforms, books and all other school-related experiences for a year.
"We get involved with regular visits with the parents and guidance councillors at each school. These students become our responsibility and will be part of a yearly partnership with students and their parents," she explained.
CashWiz is an international company which started in the Turks and Caicos Islands. The company has 19 locations throughout the Caribbean - in Jamaica, Antigua and Barbuda, Cayman Islands, The Bahamas, Grenada, Barbados, Dominica, St Kitts and Nevis, St Vincent and The Grenadines - and three locations in Florida, United States.
The company operates as a loan provider for individuals and businesses with pawnbroking services (buy-back options).
"We do collateral loans, we buy anything of value, as long as it is in good working condition (from a pin to an anchor). We also buy cars, boats, aircrafts and real estate. We offer retail sales, layaway service and private and high-end loan transactions. The process is quick, convenient and secure," explained Douglas.
The feedback from the community is one of gratitude and appreciation.
"We have gained respect and trust within these communities," said Douglas, who took the initiative to start the programmes with the assistance of general managers Chyna Brodrick (May Pen), Maxine Norton (Portmore), Allison Facey (Kingston), Cargill Brown (Montego Bay) and Barry Davis (Mandeville).
CashWiz is excited about its new partnership with the Maxfield Park Children's Home and The Golden Age Home, and have started the groundwork for the creation of the Cashwiz Foundation.
