IPMG to offer 360-degree service to film, music, sport clients
Jamaicans are always pioneering and enterprising. When three attorneys-at-law, one intellectual property research specialist, one sales and planning expert, two media/marketing specialists, a project manager, and a sport management official get together, what would one expect?
Well, this group is the newly formed IP Mining Group Limited (IPMG), which has as its core business, the commercialisation of film, music, live, sporting and lifestyle events. The team will use these areas as subsidiary divisions to operate a commercial model and protect the intellectual property rights for its clients with a 360-degree approach for its services.
The premise on which the idea was formed comes out of the fact that the orange economy, estimated to value US$4.3 trillion; and with Jamaica having some competitive edge in several areas, including, but not limited to, sport, entertainment, art, design and events. This new group intends to create business opportunities for aspiring and established practitioners in the related industries.
The brainchild of O’Neil Walters, who has established his footprint in media and marketing, has teamed up with Chantal Hylton-Tonnes, Valerie Neita Robertson, Keachea Dixon, Dean McKellar, Carole Beckford, Talia Soares, Mitch Watson and Ojay Bewley.
The team has already acquired the rights to handle a few projects in sport and music, and, over time, will release its clients to the public.
In an exquisite and intimate launch lyme recently at The Jamaica Pegasus hotel, IPMG gave a peek at its plans. In attendance were members of the media, corporate and public entities.
Raymond Pryce delivered the keynote address, and focused on the role IPMG can play while being able to influence enterprises to see themselves as contributing to the island’s GDP by attracting investments for its business, while allowing experts to guide and guard their properties.
GIVING BACK
Special guest Malik Mbaye, a 23-year-old product marketing manager of Facebook and the co-founder of EDUCO, challenged the team to focus on business, yes, but to also be mindful of its responsibility to give back and focus on building the capacity of the next generation.
The next event for IPMG will be a business forum, which will target officials in businesses that have among their portfolio, sponsorship, marketing, public relations and communications around segments of the orange economy.
The IPMG team wants the forum to “re-engage the marketing and sponsorship community and to ensure the sport, music and entertainment officials have a greater understanding of what the global trends are, while organising their portfolio for key markets”.
The date for the IPMG Business Forum is Wednesday, November 13.
