Finding your purpose
“I think we cheat ourselves if we don’t ever try to figure out what our true individual purpose is. Life is more fulfilling when you find your place and carve your space,” said Sashelle Gooden, co-host of ‘Hear Me Out – Life Uncut’, as she shared her views, and explained why the YouTube programme included ‘Finding Your Purpose’ as one of the topics in the premiere season.
“Yes, we are all on a hunt to make money, but so many people who are considered financially wealthy still seem to be lost and uneasy. I think if we find our passion and purpose, then money will come and happiness is certain. When you finally walk into your purpose, there is a peace and self-assurance that comes with it and Phillipians 4:11-13 finally makes perfect sense,” said Gooden.
Episode 6 of the new YouTube sensation features Jamaican gospel artiste Rondell Allen, aka ‘Rondell Positive’. Allen is known for his hardcore, hard-hitting music that professes his purpose to do Kingdom work. He enlightens the hosts on his own personal journey to find and activate his purpose, and divulges the moments of doubt and struggle on the journey that could have side-tracked him but, instead, pushed him forward.
“After speaking to Allen, we walked away totally different persons. I started to really do some introspection to figure out if I had indeed found my purpose,” said Antonette Newell, co-host of Hear Me Out – Life Uncut. “There are things that I enjoy doing and I am involved in many things, but are any of these things my actual purpose?” Newell openly mulled over the thoughts that were provoked after interviewing Allen.
Who are you? What do you love? What do you want to be remembered for? These are questions recommended by the hosts to be asked to initiate the journey of identifying purpose.
“If you don’t know your father, that doesn’t mean your father is not your father.” Allen used this analogy during the episode to explain that whether or not a person believes they have a purpose or is aware of their purpose, it doesn’t make the fact they have one less true.
“I think we have these unhealthy competitions going on among us and the harbouring of envy and malice, because so many people are trying to copy someone else’s life and be better at it then they have. It becomes frustrating, discouraging and downright depressing when, after following their blueprint, success and satisfaction still eludes you. But you can’t win someone’s race. Find your race, embrace it, give it your best shot. You can’t be the star in someone else’s movie, write your own,” was the closing encouragement given by Gooden.
“Remember, do you respectfully with no apology,” expressed both hosts in unison.
Readers and viewers are being encouraged to share a one-minute video of how they are finding their purpose with the hosts at hearmeoutbusinessmail@gmail.com. Episode 6 premieres at 7:30 p.m., tonight on the YouTube channel.
