Maritime interests from the Caribbean, Latin America, North America and Europe are busy registering delegates to attend this hemisphere's premiere shipping and logistics event - the Caribbean Shipping Association's (CSA) 45th Annual General Meeting, Conference and Exhibition, to be held in Cartagena, Colombia, from October 19 to 21.

CSA has collaborated with the Sociedad Portuaria Regional de la Cartagena (SPRC) to host its critical meeting in the beautiful Cartagena de Indias, Colombia. As is the tradition, the yearly three-day event will combine the annual general meeting with an international maritime executives' conference and a business

exposition.

Immediately following the opening ceremony, which includes the involvement of dignitaries from the host country, CSA delegates will get down to the business of making key decisions concerning its leadership and operations.

A highlight of the annual general meeting will be the election of the new president and vice-president, and the installation of a new general council. The CSA's general council, its managing body, comprises mainly representatives of the four constituent groups of the association.

DAY TWO

The second day of the Colombia conference, Tuesday, October 20, will focus on presentations by international and regional maritime-sector leaders, which will allow delegates a chance to hear the most up-to-date information on developments in logistics, cruise shipping, liquid natural gas fuel options, port privatisation, technology and customs. A tour of the Port of Cartagena will

follow.

The 45th Annual General Meeting, Conference and Exhibition will end with CSA's annual Gala Banquet and Awards. This stellar event will be highlighted by the announcement of the winners of the annual Caribbean Port Awards.

Time has been set aside throughout the three-day event for networking activities to allow participants to meet to discuss business matters and to initiate contact with potential partners.

Participants, comprising CSA members, industry suppliers and service providers, along with observers, are expected from more than 20 countries in the Americas and Europe. Conferences hosted by CSA provide a forum in which critical matters relevant to the growth and development of Caribbean shipping are discussed.

REGISTRATION

CSA, the voice of the Caribbean shipping industry, was established in 1971 to facilitate development of an efficient, viable Caribbean shipping industry. Its secretariat is hosted by the Shipping Association of Jamaica at its offices in Newport West, St Andrew.
