Preparations are in high gear as over 200 decision makers in the maritime sector are registered to attend the Caribbean Shipping Association’s (CSA) 20th Caribbean Shipping Executives’ Conference (CSEC) in Miami from May 2 to 3.

The association’s mid-year conference, which makes its return to an in-person staging since 2019, will host delegates from across the region’s shipping and logistics industry.

The CSEC will be staged at the InterContinental Hotel in Doral, Miami, with the assistance of PortMiami, which is set to cap the first day’s proceedings with a port tour.

Throughout the conference, attendees will hear insights from industry leaders and maritime stakeholders who will discuss topics ranging from leadership, maritime law, and practice, information and communication technology, mentorship and women equality and trade facilitation.

The much-anticipated plenary sessions will feature renowned speaker, Eduardo Brown, who will deliver the keynote address on how the best leaders use culture and emotion to drive unprecedented results. Other prominent presenters include consultant and researcher Ricardo Sanchez, who will present on the challenges and opportunities for cargo flows in the Caribbean.

One of the most-anticipated panels will explore the effect of the global crisis on the Caribbean within the context of the coronavirus pandemic and the war in Ukraine. The discussion will include Professor Jean-Paul Rodrigue from Hofstra University; Philip Gray, partner at Grayship; Mike Maura, CEO and director of Nassau Cruise Port Limited; Donnie Brown, vice-president for maritime policy at Cruise Lines International Association; and Professor Justin Robinson of The University of the West Indies. The session will be moderated by mark Williams, CEO of Kingston Wharves Limited and CSA Group B chairman.

The CSA will stage its next major summit, its 52nd Annual General Meeting, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, from October 24-26, 2022. A special presentation will be given by president of the island’s shipping association, Clarivette Diaz, who will share details of its plans for the upcoming conference.
