The popular Health Home and Garden Expo has officially been rescheduled from its previously announced date, making a switch from the end of this month to the end of May in 2015.

Event Coordinator Faye Wint-Smith, told Today that the change of date for the expo was an executive decision to rearrange the time in order to accommodate external factors beyond their control, ?While it (the expo) has always been the last weekend in October, we have always been nervous about the hurricane season, so we have been thinking about changing the date for a while now.? She made mention of Hurricane Sandy in 2012, that unleashed her wrath, destroying most of Jamaica in her path. That year the event was postponed to November.

hurricane concerns

Since it is better to be safe than sorry, organisers have taken their event out of the equation of possible hurricane passage, by indefinitely moving it to a new month before the hurricane season begins. They have also been in discussions with the Jamaica Manufacturers? Association for some time about having alternate years, to avoid the clashing of both expos.

Although the date has changed, Wint revealed that the location and quality still remain, ?It will still be held at the usual place of the National Arena and will continue to feature interesting exhibits, talks and demonstrations, a children?s and artistes? village, decoration centre and a health section.?

The three-day event, she noted, will be inexpensive, very interactive and fun-filled. Exciting family entertainment will be provided at different intervals. And based on the set-up, patrons will be able to access areas where they can take the opportunity to sit, relax and even catch up on some mingling. The schedule for the weekend will be one that allows you to explore just about anything your heart desires, as well as broaden your horizons into new territories of interest.

So, save the date: the innovative Health Home and Garden Expo will now be in the last weekend of May 2015, so don?t miss it.
