New Year
New Year out west
There was much excitement throughout Montego Bay on Wednesday night as the Second City bade good bye to 2014 and welcomed the New Year, amidst fireworks, music, great food, and wine.
On the streets, the excitement was palpable with drivers honking horns to salute throngs of pedestrians as they made their way through intense traffic along the major thoroughfares of Howard Cooke Boulevard and Gloucester Avenue to the various party venues.
At the Hanover-based Round Hill Resort, it was an all-white extravaganza! The setting was breathtakingly beautiful with lights adorning trees and flickering candles lining the pathway to an elaborate buffet.
A wide array of cuisine and a range of liquors, caviar, sushi, and dessert stations conspicuously lined the alfresco dining area. Musical bands, Irie Vibes, and Happiness Unlimited, entertained fashionable guests throughout the evening, which was punctuated by joyous laughter and dance.
Pier One
Over at Pier One, the premier entertainment spot in downtown Montego Bay, there was less formality, but the enthusiasm was also at a peak - due largely in part to expert handling of the turntables by DJ's Baby Thug and Kentucky, who kept everyone dancing.
The venue was divided into two party areas- one of which was reserved for VIP guests, who were treated to tasty cuisine and champagne. But, for as many patrons as there were inside the venue, there was almost an equal number outside the gates, gathered to witness the spectacular annual fireworks display.
On the Hip Strip, the popular Margaritaville and Blue Beat establishments were also rocking with excitement.
At Margaritaville, DJ's Blu and Fresh shared duties at the turntables to a packed audience with patrons rubbing shoulder to shoulder; and there were still long lines of revellers on the outside, eager to get in.
At the adjoining Blue Beat, DJ Shane 'The Fire Starter', also kept the party vibe at fever pitch, which was further complimented by exquisite cuisine and wine.
Judging by Wednesday night's celebrations, it is fair to say that Montegoneans have started the New Year on a very high note!
