On Saturday, April 11, Hope Botanical Gardens came alive in fine style for the celebration of Courtney Wilkinson's 50th birthday.

Wilkinson, owner and president of Alcor Windows and Doors, had friends and family coming from near and far for his big day. Guests were greeted with a glass of champagne upon entry, and escorted by lovely hostesses down the garden path decorated with Tiki torches, onto the red carpet and into a 'glittering' golden setting.

The decor and lighting created an awesome party vibe. This was further enhanced by the dome-shaped, lighted dance floor, centred with a large '50'. Ottomans and sofas were strategically placed around the venue, with lanterns and mini floral arrangements encircling the dance floor, with Bistro tables covered in gold and black, all courtesy of Starlight Productions and Dawn Leyow.

The birthday cake was a three-feet wide 'Light Rum Fruit Cake' by Selena Wong, decorated with fondant, reflecting Wilkinson's diverse tastes. The side of the cake was decorated with 'windows' that opened to give guests the opportunity to view pictures of his life and achievements to date.

As part of the evening's formalities, Nadine Sutherland sang Happy Birthday to Wilkinson (Stevie Wonder style). The man of the hour cut the cake with his children, followed by toasts from family and friends. Sky lanterns were lit and released in his honour, signalling the end of formalities and the beginning of the party as MC, Dionne Silvera, informed guests with her

customary humour.

Wilkinson and his guests danced the night away to the music of DJ Bambino while enjoying an assortment of wine and liquors from Betco and

J Wray & Nephew. They also enjoyed a wide array of delectable offerings courtesy of Jacqui Tyson, Gloria's of Port Royal and Sweet Wood Jerk. Dawn Mitchell also provided desserts in the most delicious flavours.
