The Sagicor Group 45th anniversary celebration took over the R. Danny Williams Building in New Kingston on Tuesday.

Specially invited guests waltzed into the balcony venue to celebrate with the financial services institution. Not long after, Alysia Moulton-White kicked off the formalities with trivia games which continued throughout the programme.

After the formalities, Sagicor President Richard Byles greeted the audience and apologised for the absence of Chairman R. Danny Williams, who is currently off the island. Byles said that Williams sent his regards to the team and encouraged them to celebrate in fine style.

He noted that the company has had some good times and, no doubt, some bad times, but the workers and customers have made Sagicor what it is today. He highlighted some foundation members who have been with Sagicor since its inception in 1970 - Loris Chin Young and Goffe Spencer.

#45WaysToGiveBack

The group took the opportunity to launch their new initiative - '45 ways to give back' to the community. The first recipient was the Golden Age Home Cluster 'A', which received a cheque valued at $300,000. Ingrid Card, vice-president of group marketing at Sagicor, said "giving back is part of Sagicor's culture and hence the decision to use this special occasion to give back was a very easy one." Forty-four individuals, charity groups, communities or institutions are left to benefit from this initiative.

Entertainment!

The group 'One Third' kicked off the entertainment segment performing I Wanna Know What Love Is, followed by the Combined Chorale doing an original Sagicor song. To top that was Chi Ching Ching with his dance crew.

After being thoroughly entertained, patrons were invited to indulge in a buffet which included Chinese roast pork, barbecue chicken wings, fish fillet fingers with tartar sauce, assorted sandwiches, and miniature cupcakes from Debe' Chen Marcia Leyow.

After eating, guests let down their hair and changed into their flats while being entertained by Phenomenal sound system.
