A Jamaican-Made Christmas done right

The most wonderful time of the year came a bit earlier than usual and was off to a fine start last weekend when National Baking Company Foundation, for the first time, hosted an expo they called the Jamaican-Made Christmas at The Jamaica Pegasus.
After the rave reviews on Sunday, we visited the site on Monday. Little did we know that we wouldbe in for a real treat! Scores of small businesses and entrepreneurs gathered in the ballroom-turned gift shop. From food to health products to art and all other areas in between - fashion and accessories, hair and make-up, books, even home decor items - you name it, you could find it.
Innovation was on display, and most booths were friendly and ready to share some insight into their locally made products. They emphasised natural ingredients used, and if you weren't fully convinced by their knowledge, some were quick to provide samples for you to try. The proof is after all in the pudding.
AFFORDABLE PRICES
And to add icing to the fabulous cake, all the items on sale or services being offered were reasonable and affordable, some reducing their prices just for the event. When asked why they decided to execute such a grand event, CEO of the National Baking Company Gary 'Butch' Hendrickson explained that they wanted to provide a platform for small businesses to spread their wings and for the wider community to support local entities and buy Jamaica.
