The day could not be any more perfect. Rose petals delicately tossed on the red carpet just for you; the beautiful decor almost making you feel like you were in Heaven, beautiful arrangements at every corner, and everyone is looking and waiting on you, everything is perfect - it's your wedding day. But wedding planners and brides who are brave enough to take up the mantle of planning their weddings themselves know that the perfect day takes a lot of planning and even then, there can be hiccups.

Helen G Event Planning and Design had the experts with the know-how at hand to help brides-to-be and wedding planners make wedding days perfect at her second Make Your Day Wedding Expo at Eden Gardens on Sunday.

COVERING EVERY ELEMENT

There were wedding boutiques, photographers, cake decorators and scores of others on hand with helpful tips covering every element of wedding planning.

Sara Stanford of Bliss Bridal gave advice on the perfect dress selection, and Kamala McWhinney of White Lotus Boutique also gave advice on wedding dresses, as well as how to accessorise themselves on that day from head to toe. Althea Lawla founder of The Salon Hair and Scalp Clinic and her colleagues did a live demonstration on how to do your hair for the big day.

Catering was also covered by Eskay Caterers' Stephen Hamilton, while cakes were done by Jermaine Smith, CEO of J Smith Cakes and Decor. Smith also gave out some great cupcake samples that would be perfect for weddings, while photography and cinematography (more creative version of videography) were covered by Devon Shaw and Production Box, respectively.

Attendees were given a wealth of information that might appear overwhelming, but left them feeling more capable and relieved, knowing truly what to expect when planning their or someone else's special day. Six brides, however, left with a bit more than information. Bliss Bridal and White Lotus each gave a free dress rental, Sue the Make-up Girl gave away a make-up consultation, The Salon Hair and Scalp Clinic gave a hair consultation, Production Box gave a US$800 package; and Jamaica Wedding Photos, a photo shoot.
