Newly appointed dean of the Consular Corps and honorary consul to Bangladesh, Michael Subratie, warmly greeted the guests, diplomats and supporters of the consul. Specially welcoming the non-resident heads of missions, noting that he hopes they are able to enjoy some of what his beautiful island has to offer before they leave.

"I know some of you started enjoying the richness of our culture on your first day of arrival, yet there is so much more of Jamaica to see and experience: the Blue Mountains, white sand beaches, Dunn's River Falls, reggae music, carnival, sailing, scuba diving. I could go on, but this would prolong the evening. The truth is no matter how hard you try to experience Jamaica all in one go, you just can't; you keep coming back for more," he boasted.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs & Foreign Trade's slogan for Jamaica's 2017 Diplomatic Week is 'Growth Through Partnerships' and with that in mind, Subratie got down to the meat of the matter. He noted that the role of the corps is the identify trade investments and opportunities between the countries they represent and Jamaica, a mission they have already started with numerous international companies that have invested in Jamaica.

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Kamina Johnson-Smith shared the same sentiments as Subratie. She also complimented his spirit and fun outlook.
