The pouring rain could not stop 'soca stars' from coming out and shining bright in true 'wuk up' fashion at the highly anticipated event I Love Soca Jamaica.

Last Saturday night, the outfield of Sabina Park came to life as 'Lucy' and 'Vagabonds' rolled in with stocked coolers in tote for the wet-and-wild festivities outside of the soca season. A few partygoers ditched their best-dressed plans, opting instead for either more weather- friendly attire or 'dare to be bare' clothing, treating their 'playground' like a dip-and- ride water party.

So what was the remedy for a cold and stormy night? Warm 'wining' with your crew! An occasional umbrella could be seen among the packed crowd, from persons who brought their own or bought at the venue. Yes, there was an umbrella man ready to sell shelter to those who so desired.

Speaking of suppliers, NescafÈ kept the partying going by providing a coffee station to keep the revellers warm. As for the delectable delights, Bad Dawg had hunger covered with their filling hot dogs topped with all the condiments you can think of. Jerked chicken and soup were also available. But the highlight of the night came with the musical selections from I Love Soca's veteran DJs. Richie Ras, DJ Lantern, DJ Smoke, Coppershot, Aaron Fingal and DJ Charlotte and Riggo Suave from Trinidad all took turns keeping the crowd gyrating.

All in all, I Love Soca was a success, and many cannot wait for the holiday edition come December.
