WESTERN BUREAU:

Public relations guru Noel Mignott of The PM Group in the United States knows how to throw a party, and he is also the master of putting together the right mix of invitees.

On Wednesday night, the former deputy director of tourism, who for years had the responsibility for marketing destination Jamaica, hosted Caribbean ministers and parliamentary secretaries at a very intimate and classy dinner at the fabulous Sandals LaSource in Grenada.

With Peter Frazer, a connoisseur of what fabulous looks and feels like at the helm of the hotel, all Mignott and his guests had to do on Wednesday was turn up and look the part. Frazer's very equipped team did the rest.

The event signalled the rebirth of countries such as Anguilla, Turks & Caicos, and Barbuda, which were damaged by recent hurricanes. The government ministers and their counterparts were in Grenada to show their strength and resilience at the State of the Tourism Industry Conference now on in the island renowned for its spices.

Obviously, dinner was not about the losses that occurred, but the rebuilding efforts, coupled by the most fantastic-tasting sushi this side of the hemisphere.

Jamaica's Minister of Tourism Edmund Bartlett was in attendance, so was Dionisio D'Aguilar, chairman of the Caribbean Tourism Organisation and minister of tourism and aviation, The Bahamas.
