Champions MBU batter Boys' Town

Champions Montego Bay United (MBU) easily brushed aside Boys' Town 4-0 in third-round action in the Red Stripe Premier League at Westpow Park yesterday with striker Alan Ottey scoring a hat-trick.

It was MBU's first win after three tries, and it was one of complete dominance, as was later admitted to by the Red Brigade's coach, Andrew Price.

Victory gives Carlos Garcia's side three points and four overall from three matches, while Boys' Town remain near the foot of the standings on a single point.

Ottey used his pace to full effect and should have scored two other goals, but he was calm enough to net the opener in the 15th minute with a powerful shot from the top of the area.

His strike partner, Omar Gordon, got in on the act with a stunning shot that flew past goalkeeper Kirk Porter's hands before he knew it and into the back of the net, for a 2-0 lead in the 34th minute.

MBU, who suffered at the feet of Waterhouse last week, were far more composed in attack, and a minute after the second goal, Gordon should have done better but wasted a wonderful chance, firing into the side netting.

Ottey had the ball at his feet and cut inside his defender before unleashing a powerful shot that flew low and hard into the goal, making the score 3-0.

He would complete his second only hat-trick for MBU from the spot, having been pulled down inside the area by William Richards. He spotted the ball and booted the resulting kick into the roof of the net.
