Tricky assignment for Manchester

Western Bureau:

The second set of matches in the inter-zone round of the 2014 ISSA/Lime daCosta Cup gets under way this afternoon with several tasty matchups across the eight zones, but none will carry as much weight as the Manchester versus Holmwood clash in Zone Three.

It is perhaps the toughest of the eight zones with any of the four teams ? St Elizabeth Technical, Holmwood, Manchester and Edwin Allen - capable of coming out on top.

But after Wednesday?s first round of matches, it?s the defending champions STETHS and Manchester who lead with three points, each.

STETHS have the inside track with a better goal difference following their 5-0 dismantling of Holmwood. Manchester had a 2-0 win over Edwin Allen.

A win for Holmwood over Manchester is certainly not out of the question, and should that happen, it would leave Donovon Duckie?s Manchester in a battle to secure the lone quarter-final spot and a ticket to the LIME Champions Cup, especially if STETHS defeat Edwin Allen.

STETHS coach Omar Wedderburn has said his players would have to up their play a notch or two in this round of the competition, and they looked the part against Holmwood.
