Cornwall, JC lock horns

A mouth-watering triple header in the LIME Super Cup is scheduled for the Montego Bay Sports Complex this afternoon.

The opening encounter pits two-time daCosta Cup champions Dinthill Technical against three-time Manning Cup champions Camperdown at 2 p.m., then at 4 p.m., the resurgent St James High will be looking to silence the Wolmer's Boys aggregation, but all this will pale in significance to the hyped up feature match between two giants of local schoolboy football, Cornwall College and Jamaica College.

This high stakes clash is set for a 6 p.m. kick-off.

Cornwall College are having a dream season so far, unbeaten and dropping points in two matches to be one of the form teams leading the charge to secure a historic first lien on the LIME Super Cup.

They have goals coming from almost every player and head coach Dr Dean Weatherly is hoping for more.

"Any team that wants it more end up the winners, and I know my players are hungry for success. It starts here this afternoon against this JC team," said Dr. Weatherly.

JC's captain Junior Flemmings is easily a cut above the rest and will have to be contained if the 11-time daCosta Cup winners stand any chance of advancing to the quarter-finals of the cash-rich competition.

Though hit by the chikungunya virus, JC possess one of the best squads in the competition and team manager Ian Forbes, is confident the end result will be in his team's favour.

"I am expecting a tough competition; Cornwall are a quality team and they have been playing well I gather, but we are confident in our abilities," said Forbes.

"A number of our players have been affected by the virus, but whoever plays, once we execute our game plan, we should be happy at the final whistle," Forbes told The Gleaner.
