Clarendon, STETHS, set for Ben Francis KO humdinger

Having temporarily put the daCosta Cup title chase on hold, Ben Francis Cup KO champions St Elizabeth Technical High School will this afternoon look to get back to the championship match, in a clash against Clarendon College at the Juici Field starting at 2:45 p.m.

In the second semi-final, Glenmuir High take aim at the unpredictable Dinthill Technical at the Jamalco playing field, also at 2:45 p.m. The winners will clash in the final.

If form is anything to go by, the STETHS-Clarendon clash is the pick of the two semis, providing both teams play to their full potential.

After putting away Petersfield High 1-0 in their daCosta Cup quarter-final game last week, STETHS coach Omar Wedder-burn still believes his team has it in them to make it back-to-back titles on both fronts.

"We are quality, and it shows each time we play and champions do not always play, great football, but they do find a way to win and that is what we are about," he said.

"So coming up against Claren-don College is another tough assignment, but we are champions and we are not in the business of giving up our titles. I am expecting a good game and a great result," he told The Gleaner.

Last year, at this stage, they outlasted a rugged Paul Bogle High 3-2 on their way to the final, where they triumphed 2-0 over Manchester High.

This Clarendon team is a much different prospect, however. They handed STETHS a defeat in the preseason competition (STETHS Cup) and have looked the part so far, playing good, consistent, if not spectacular football.
