No stopping Super filly Come Dance With Me

file COME DANCE WITH ME winning at Caymanas Park on October 20.

COME DANCE WITH ME and POLLY B, both unbeaten in two starts, should fight out the finish of the 10th running of the $3.6 million Pick-3 Super Challenge Trophy over 1,400 metres, race number two in the Supreme Ventures 2-Y-O Series comprising three races, at Caymanas Park today.

The series, which began on October 20 (Heroes Day) with the $2.9 million Cash Pot ?Only One For Me? Trophy over 1,200 metres, won by the favourite COME DANCE WITH ME, concludes on Boxing Day with the $4.25 million Supreme Ventures Jamaica 2-Y-O Stakes over 1600 metres.

Although nine starters have been declared, COME DANCE WITH ME and POLLY B have distinguished themselves to the extent that it is unlikely the trio of ALACRANN, ALI BABA and SILVER CLOUD will be able to separate them.

The top two will clash following impressive wins last time out and this should set the stage for a mouth-watering clash between them, especially after both impressed at exercise in preparation for this race.

POLLY B looking sharp

POLLY B, to be ridden by Dick Cardenas for champion trainer Wayne DaCosta, looked real sharp at exercise on November 23, galloping five furlongs in a brisk 1:00.3. The Dwight Chen-trained COME DANCE WITH ME has impressed in two recent spills as well, galloping 5-1/2 furlongs in 1:06.4 and, more recently, clocking 1:01.0 for five furlongs.

A chestnut filly by Blue Pepsi Lodge out of Soca Dancer, COME DANCE WITH ME has tremendous speed, making all impressively in both races to date. She won the Cash Pot ?Only One For Me? Trophy race quite easily behind fast splits of 22.3 and 45.4, stopping the clock at 1:13.3 with Percy Williams up.

Williams, who left the island for Trinidad earlier this week to ride PRINCESS POPSTAR in the valuable Champions Stakes at Santa Rosa today, gives way to champion jockey Dane Nelson, who has been riding up a storm in recent weeks.

POLLY B, on the other hand, showed good battling qualities to beat TURN ME LOOSE in a driving finish over 1,300 metres in the Caymanas Juvenile Sprint on November 8, equalling the stakes record time of 1:18.3 in the process.

duel to the death

With both trainers confident of victory ahead of today?s race, it will be a duel to the death, but the lightning speed of COME DANCE WITH ME should make the difference in my book. I am expecting her to stave off the chasing POLLY B up the lane, with ALACRANN, now administered Lasix, staying on for third ahead of ALI BABA, one of three horses from the DaCosta stable in the field.

Other firm fancies on the Supreme Ventures-sponsored 11-race programme are BORDER LINE (working well) with Nelson aboard in the knotty overnight allowance race over 1,200 metres where SCOOP JORDYNE, EDISON and ITALIANO should ensure he is extended; MR AMBASSADOR (working well, Lasix on) in the fourth for two-year-olds; XQUISITE CHOICE in the third; SHELLIAN GREY in the fifth and ALSO CORRECT in the seventh.
