‘Taxi’ gets MLS contract

Harbour View Foot-ball Club has landed deals for Kemar 'Taxi' Lawrence and Brian 'Rambo' Brown in the United States of America (USA).

The local club and New York Red Bulls reached an agreement to sign attacking 22-year-old Reggae Boyz left back Lawrence after a two-week trial, then passing a medical, international transfer clearance, and work visa processing.

The deal was coordinated by Global Premier Management, FIFA agent Damani Ralph and Major League Soccer (MLS).

"It is a big step in the right direction, and thanks to all my teammates, coaches, club, agent, family, and friends. It was possible because they stuck around and kept their prayers going day after day, saying that there is gonna be a breakthrough," Lawrence said in a HVFC release.

"I always say that my dreams are bigger than the environment I am in, so now that I am in a new environment, I have got to prove that my dreams are still bigger. I am really thankful, and I always end by saying my God live, and I believe He's gonna take me places beyond my wildest imagination," he added.

Brown, in the meantime, is awaiting his visa and expected to join the Indy Eleven this month, in time for the 2015 North American Soccer League spring season opener on April 4, at the Atlanta Silverbacks.

"I'm really happy to be joining Indy Eleven and can't wait to meet my new teammates. I am looking forward to a great season, both for myself and Indy Eleven," the 23-year-old Brown said.

Indy Eleven's president and general manager, Peter Wilt, said the club is eagerly awaiting Brown's arrival.

"Brian Brown is a rising star who is an exciting addition, not just for Indy Eleven, but for the North American Soccer League," Wilt said in the HVFC release.

"Our staff got some great feedback on Brian from Mike Sorber and Jim Curtin in Philadelphia, and major credits also to agent Damani Ralph for helping to get the deal finalised. We can't wait to get Brian into camp and onto the field," he added.

Clyde Jureidini, HVFC's general manager, expects the players to be successful.

"We expect both players to do their best. They have grown, and we expect them to progress on the international stage," Jureidini said.
