BCCI: Narine must undergo second test

Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) president Jagmohan Dalmiya has confirmed that embattled West Indies off-spinner Sunil Narine will have to undergo another test on his action, this time in Chennai, before he can turn out for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) which starts in less than a week.

Narine was twice called for having a suspected illegal bowling action during last year's Champions League Twenty20 (CLT20) and was eventually banned from bowling in the final.

However, he was subsequently cleared by cricket's world governing body, the International Cricket Council.

Despite this, the BCCI has dismissed the ICC report, with Dalmiya indicating he had already contacted KKR about the new test.

"I've spoken to them, he has to appear for the test again, be it once or twice," Dalmiya said Wednesday.

The new move will be a blow to the KKR, especially with the IPL bowling off on April 8. He has been their leading bowler in recent seasons, and remains a seminal figure in their line-up.

Since the controversy during the CLT20, Narine has undergone extensive rehabilitation on his action. He was pulled from the ill-fated West Indies tour of India last October and also opted out of the World Cup squad.

He underwent a bio-mechanical test at Loughborough in England and was subsequently cleared.

The Press Trust of India reported that Narine's new test would take place at the Sri Ramachandra University.
