Sheer Madness safe in Race 2

Upsets by SUPER-LUMINAL at 16-1, ALDEBARAN at 9-1 and ZEEVA at 7-1 ensured that the Pick-9 eluded players yet again at Caymanas Park on Wednesday and the carryover to tomorrow's meet stands at $5.8 million.

True, he finished behind the runner-up BLUE BOMBER BOY in the race won by PECKARONI recently, but this is a more suitable race for him and he is fancied to turn the tables on BLUE BOMBER BOY, to be ridden by the sparingly used jockey Kerry Perry.

AWESOME CODE, who has settled down to his racing of late, should emulate his recent course win over 1200 metres by capturing the fourth race to be contested by eight starters.

The five-year-old gelding, who now takes orders from Gary Griffiths, came back with a big effort in defeat when finishing third to DIFERENTGENERATION in a blanket finish over 1400 metres recently. Although facing old rival LIGHT BRIGADE and the speedy TURBULENT VELOCITY, AWESOME CODE with in-form Jevanne Erwin aboard, should resume winning ways.

I also like the Wayne DaCosta-trained BRAVE PROSPECT (improving steadily) with Halledeen aboard to lead home TARANTINO in the fifth race over 1820 metres for maiden three-year-olds, CAUSE FOR CONCERN with the claiming apprentice Orayne Sewell to stave off TOKICO in the sixth over 1600 metres, and down-in-class RIO COBRE (Muir up) over HOLOGRAM SHADOW and BUTLER CABIN in the seventh race over the straight for the G.A. 'Sarge' Bucknor Memorial Cup (overnight allowance) to be contested by 13 starters.
