Henry-Robinson second in 100m

NEW YORK, New York:

There was a second-place finish for Samantha Henry-Robinson, 11.08, in the women's 100 metres, won by American English Gardener in 11.00, while Stephenie-Ann McPherson, Sherone Simpson and Nesta Carter all finished third in their respective events at the Adidas Grand Prix in New York yesterday.

Commonwealth Games champion O'Dayne Richards matched his season's best 21.00m in the shot put, his first 21m mark in five attempts.

The event was taken by Joe Kovac with 21.67m ahead of Jordan Clarke, 21.34m and Tom Walsh, 21.16m, with Richards finishing just outside the top three.

In the men's 100m, Tyson Gay was first across the line in 10.12 ahead of Keston Bledman, 10.13, who was reinstated after initially being ejected for a false start. Carter was third in 10.15, while Nickel Ashmeade, 10.28, was sixth.

WORLD-LEADING RUN

American Francena McCorory stopped the clock in a world-leading and meet record 49.86 in the women's 400m. Bahamian Shaunae Miller, 50.66, outlasted Jamaica's McPherson, 50.84, with Christine Day finishing fifth in 51.48. Defending Diamond race winner Novlene Williams-Mills failed to finish.

National champion Roxroy Cato was fourth in the men's 400m hurdles in 48.97, the same time given to secondplaced Jeffery Gibson, with South Africa's LJ Van Zyl, 48.78, finishing second behind Javier Culson, 48.48. Annsert White was seventh in 49.62.

In the women's 200m, American Tori Bowie won in 22.23, the third fastest time this year, with Nigerian Blessing Okagbare, 22.67, and Sherone Simpson, 22.69, finishing second and third, respectively.
