Hyde leads PanAm squad

WORLD Junior champion Jaheel Hyde leads a strong Jamaica squad named by the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association to the PanAm Junior Games in Toronto, Canada, from July 31 to August 2.

Hyde and Marvin Williams, who won the event at the 2013 World Youth Championships in Donetsk, Ukraine, will compete in the 400m hurdles. The strong male line-up also includes Kingston College sprinter Shivnarine Smalling, who will compete in the 100m and 200m and reigning junior champion Xandre Blake.

Double sprint national junior champion Sashalee Forbes headlines the women's field, where she will line up in both the 100m and 200m.

The rest of the male squad includes Roje Jackson-Chin, Seanie Selvin, Kevaun Rattray, Hujaye Cornwall, Renardo Wilson, Ivan Henry, Demar Weller, Devaughn Smith, Shemar Salmon, Thaleetio Green, Obrien Wasome, Odaine Lewis, Clayton Brown, Demar Gayle, Warren Barrett and Rajindra Campbell.

On the women's side, the competitors are Yanique Thompson, Daeson Gordon, Shannon Kalawan, Ashley Williams, Kimone Hines, Jonielle Smith, Candice McLeod, Dawnalee Loney, Roneisha McGregor, Jessica Nobel, Shanice Lewis, Shanice Love, Safia Morgan and Tamara Moncrieffe.

Juliette Parkes will manage the team, with Langley Robinson, assistant manager. Head coach is Michael Carr, with the coaching cadre including Shanikie Osbourne, Ruel James and Michael McIntosh. Team doctor will be Dr Kevin Jones, and Nicholas Bromley is the physiotherapist.
