Kaliese Spencer leads two Jamaicans into the semi-final of the women’s 400m hurdles set for Monday at 6:10 a.m.

Spencer would have settled some nerves as she cruised to victory in her heat in a time of 55.03 showing no signs of the minor injury which hampered her preparations for the World Championships.

National Champion Janieve Russell also looked easy winning her heat in a time of 55.09.

World leader Shamier Little of the USA was fourth in 56.47, as she too advanced to the semis.

Shevon Stoddart time of 56.60 was good enough for fourth in her heat and was eventually sent through to semis following the disqualification of Australia’s Lauren Wells.

Wells, however, appealed and was reinstated to see Stoddart miss out on a place in the semis.

It was also disappointment for 23-year-old Ristananna Tracey, as she failed to qualify after fading to seventh in her heat with a time of 57.60.
