Western Bureau:

Forward Dijon Scott stung his former team with two clinical finishes as Munro College defeated Lacovia 4-2 in Santa Cruz yesterday in Group E of the 2015 ISSA-FLOW daCosta Cup.

The win sealed Munro's place in the Inter-Zone round behind group winners St. Elizabeth Technical. Lacovia also advance as one of the best third-place teams.

Champions Clarendon College, 18 points, also sealed group honours with a 3-0 win over Thompson Town in Group H, while Lennon High (15 points) finished as runners-up.

At the Treasure Beach Sports Park, STETHS clipped Newell 1-0 to move to 21 points and another top-of-the-group finish.

Lacovia, who came into the game as leaders of a very impressive group, were undermined inside the first 15 minutes. They then, in the 61st minute, lost Akeem Brown, who was red carded for a bad foul on Munro's Carlos Palomares.

Winning goals

Scott, who donned the sky blue for Lacovia last year, scored Munro's last two goals in the 60th and 69th minutes, respectively, to follow up his teammates' opening salvo to spark a frantic celebration on the sidelines.

Roshane Walker profited from a defensive error to fire Munro in the lead in the ninth minute. Oshane Staple then levelled the score for Lacovia with a powerful shot in the 10th minute.

Munro regained the lead in the 13th minute when Timar Lewis lobbed the advancing Lacovia goalkeeper.

"This is a fulfilling moment for us because we prepared well for this game," said Munro coach Keveral Stewart.

Former champions Frome Tech (10 pts) and Rusea's (15 pts) were involved in an exciting match in Group B, where the hosts rallied from a goal down to win 2-1 and qualify to the next round on goal difference over Green Island (10).
