St George’s, Excelsior to kick off Walker Cup

DEFENDING ISSA/FLOW Walker Cup KO champions St George's College will lock horns with former champions Excelsior High School in the first game of an epic double-header at 1 p.m. at the Constant Spring Field tomorrow.

The two former Walker Cup and Manning Cup champions advanced to the Walker Cup as winners of Groups C and F, respectively.

The day's other game, slated to kick off at 3 p.m. at the same venue, brings together Kingston College and St Jago. KC were winners of Group G, while St Jago are the best second-place Manning Cup team overall.

On Saturday, there's a titanic billing between last season's treble winning Jamaica College team and the team they beat in the Manning Cup final, Charlie Smith.

This game is the first of a double-header and is scheduled for 1 p.m.

The day's other match up will feature two of the competition's unbeaten teams, Hydel High and Wolmer's Boys', at 3 p.m. Hydel won Group B, while Wolmer's took Group E honours.

The matches will be on a play-to-the-finish basis, as a winner has to be decided, either by extra time or penalty shoot-out.0

The semi-finals will be played on Wednesday, October 21 at the Constant Spring Field.
