Rest day for marlin tourney

The Port Antonio Blue Marlin tournament takes a break this morning to make way for the one-day canoe competition, which has attracted approximately 70 local fishermen.
After two gruelling days of competition, nine marlins have been tagged and released.
Twenty-six fishing boats, including six overseas entries - three from Haiti, two from the Cayman Islands and one American - are competing in the marlin tournament.
On Monday, the tournament was declared open by custos of Portland, Lincoln Thaxter, who urged the anglers to continue their friendly rivalry.
The custos also lauded the organisers for their renewed commitment to the staging of the tournament, which continues to be a positive spin-off for local residents, who are employed for approximately two weeks.
Today's canoe tournament will see local fishermen vying for the prestigious Stone Ginger Wine Trophy and a cash prize.
The marlin competition resumes tomorrow and will climax on Friday with a prize-giving ceremony.
