Wolmer's ready to shoot down CC ... Coach Reynolds warns alma mater ahead of top clash

Wolmer's coach Vassell Reynolds will be going up against his alma mater and coaches who were once his schoolmates when Clarendon College face Wolmer's in their ISSA/Flow Super Cup quarter-final today at Sabina Park.

Despite the sentiments, Reynolds warned Clarendon College not to expect a warm welcome when the referee sounds the kick-off whistle at 6 p.m.

4 p.m in the opening game of the double-header.

"I know their philosophy and style of play. I lived walking distance from the school and I used to be in primary school watching the present coach and assistant of Clarendon College now. I know how they play, and what is expected of the team," Reynolds pointed out.

Reynolds, who also represented Clarendon College in the daCosta Cup, admitted that he was an admirer of their current coach, Paul 'Tegat' Davis, but underlined that today is all about getting the result.

"They will come here to Sabina Park against us pumped up for the Super Cup, and it's gonna be a tough game. I don't think they will have a third bad game. I expect a much better Clarendon team tomorrow (today)," he stressed.

Reynolds believes Clarendon was not at their best against Hydel in last week's Super Cup opening round, despite a come-from-behind 2-1 extra-time win.

"From preseason, I thought they were one of the daCosta Cup favourites. I expect a good Super Cup match, good crowd, and they will be gunning to get pumped up and ready for their next game against Glenmuir," added Reynolds.

PLAYING TO STRENGTHS

Clarendon College will face Rusea's and then Glenmuir in the ISSA/Flow daCosta Cup Clarendon derby soon, having lost their first quarter-final match 2-1 to Dinthill Technical.

"Despite people saying we are defensive, we approach every game different. We change according to our opponents, and we try to play to our strengths," explained Reynolds.

Alphanso Gooden is Wolmer's main attacking threat with seven goals, while Jahwahni Hinds has scored seven this season, including one in last week's 3-1 win over Port Antonio.

"We will be going all-out for the win. We are gonna go one step further than we have done so far this season. We are aiming for three finals, and we will not let Clarendon spoil that," Reynolds told The Gleaner.
