Large number of entries for SVL's Diamond Mile

Entries for the richest ever race in the Eastern Caribbean, the $13.5 million Supreme Ventures Limited (SVL) Diamond Mile (grade one) to be run at Caymanas Park on Saturday, December 5, closed in the Racing Office on Wednesday afternoon with 26 hopefuls based on lifetime earnings.

With the rich and prestigious Burger King Superstakes over 2000 metres scheduled to be run Saturday, November 14, the positioning of the horses based on earnings to date could change significantly in a few cases.

The top 16 are PERFECT NEIGHBOUR (55.0kg) from the stables of champion trainer Wayne DaCosta; two-time Horse of the Year TYPEWRITER 55.0kg (trained by Spencer Chung); COMMANDING CHIEF 55.0 (Everal Francis); ALL CORRECT 55.0 (Wayne DaCosta); POTCHEEN 55.0 (Harry Parsard); the American horse UPPA TUNE 57.0kg (Harry Parsard); UNCLE TAF 55.0 (Solomon Sharpe); TRADITIONAL PRINCE 55.0 (Patrick Lynch); HOVER CRAFT 55.0 (Wayne DaCosta); Derby winner SEEKING MY DREAM 53.0 (Wayne DaCosta); TIME FORARMS 55.0 (Fitzroy Glispie); 2000 Guineas winner ALI BABA 53.0 (Wayne DaCosta); PETE'SWILDONE 57.0 (Harry Parsard); RACING PROSPECT 55 (Patrick Lynch); FORTUNEONEHUNDRED 57.0 (Wayne DaCosta); and the Richard Azan-trained FRANFIELD 55.0 completing the top 16.

The also eligibles in order of earnings are CAMPESINO, CRUCIAL APPEAL, PHINEAS, MIRACLE STAR, PUDDY POOH, POKER STAR, BUZZ NIGHTMARE, SOUTHERN CRUISE, LONG RUNNNING TRAIN, and BIGBROWNGREYHOPE.

Significantly, Wayne DaCosta, who is safely on course for a record 15th trainers' title this season, which would surpass Hall of Famer Philip Feanny, has six horses in the top 16 along with POKER STAR in the also eligibles, while veteran trainer Harry Parsard has three in addition to LONG RUNNING TRAIN on the reserve list.

Purse money will be paid to the top 10 past the post, an unprecedented move. The winner will receive a whopping $6.5 million, second $2.1 million, third $1.2 million, and fourth $754.000.

Imported three-year-olds and up will carry 57.0kg, native-bred four-year-olds and up 55.0kg, native-bred three-year-olds 53.0kg. Fillies and mares are allowed a 2.0kg sex allowance.
