Car #1 with the Team of Defending Champion Jeffery Panton and co-driver Mike Fennell Jr roared off at 8 a.m. from the New Works Stage of the JMMC/NACAM all stages Rally.

They are the first of a good field of 28 well prepared machines that will carve up the farm roads of New Works, Mickleton, Bybrook and Wakefield over the next two days.

Panton's 2008 Focus spat fire as man and machine locked up together to assault the stage.

They were followed the Trinidadian pair of of John Powell and Nicolas Telfer also in a Ford Focus with Frenchmen Simon-Jean Joseph and Jack Boyere in yet another Ford Focus.

Competition will be merciless with ten cars going pedal-to metal in the packed JN8 class.

Of the 28 cars five are competing as NACAM cars representing Mexico, Costa Rica and USA.

There are a total of ten cars with foreign teams.

It is left to be seen who survives the six brutal stages on gravel, mud and as many as six water splashes.

On Sunday if they make it through the Bybrook/Wakesfield Super Stage they will put on a show for the fans with two short stages on the Kingston Waterfront.
