FOOTBALL: Portmore beat UWI 3-0

Leaders Portmore United defeated the University of the West Indies (UWI) 3-0 in their Red Stripe Premier League game at Juici Park in Clarendon yesterday.

Portmore were led to victory courtesy of a brace from Javon East in the 30th and 46th minutes.

Rodian Jennings scored Portmore's third goal in the 76th minute.

In other games, last year's beaten finalist Montego Bay United edged Boys' Town 1-0 at Wes Pow Park.

Owayne Gordon scored the lone goal for Montego Bay in the 61st minute.

However, Montego Bay ended the match with ten men after Dwayne Holmes was sent off in the 23rd minute.     

Rivoli United beat Cavalier 1-0.

Striker Corey Burke netted the lone goal for Rivoli in the 31st minute.

Elsewhere, Demar Gillings scored in the 22nd minute to guide Reno to a 1-0 victory over Tivoli Gardens.

Harbour View also registered a similar 1-0 victory over Waterhouse.

Rosario Harriot scored the winner for Harbour View in the 49th minute. 

The competition continues today when defending champions Arnett Gardens and Humble Lion clash in the Monday night game at the Tony Spaulding Sports Complex.

The match is set to start at 8:30.
