Marsh heading to Finland on trial

Cavalier's attacking midfielder Chevone 'Messi' Marsh, who impressed at the schoolboy and Red Stripe Premier League levels, is set to jet off to a two-month trial stint with top flight Finnish outfit Kuopian Palloseura, having impressed club scouts two months ago.

Twenty-two year-old Marsh represented Calabar High as a schoolboy and made his debut at Cavalier at age 11 in the Kingston and St Andrew Football Association (KSAFA) under-15 league. He has also featured for the club at the under-17 and KSAFA Super League levels.

The tricky midfielder has developed over the last four years into one of the most talented players in the Red Stripe Premier League.

Despite Cavalier's relegation this season, club boss Rudolph Speid said his charge is one of the most destructive midfield players and deserves to take his career to the next level.

"The fact that Messi (Chevone Marsh) was called up to the national team as one of four players to play in our premier league, alone says that he has impressed a lot of persons," said Speid

He explained that scouts were impressed with Marsh, and backs the player to continue impressing and making his mark.

"I am pleased for him. He has been our longest serving player and I can only hope for the best for him because he has the potential to excel," continued Speid, while stressing "he is one of the most destructive players in the premier league".

Meanwhile, in an email correspondence, Jarmo Heiskanen, managing director of Kuopion Palloseura, confirmed that his club would like to invite the Jamaican for a football trial from April 30 through to July 2 this year.

The club has played in Finland's top flight for 50 seasons and claimed five league titles, two Finnish Cup titles and one Finnish League Cup title.

It is also called KuPS, and has finished runners-up in the league nine times and claimed a number of junior titles.
