DEFENDING champions Mico 'A', along with Molynes United 'A' and UWI Pelicans, joined Jamalco in the semi-finals of the Supreme Ventures Major League netball competition after quarter-final wins at the Leila Robinson Courts on Saturday.

Defending champions Mico 'A' had the biggest margin of victory. Led by national representative Vangelee Williams, the Annette Daley-coached team had an easy 40-19 win over Ravens.

The defending champions led from start to finish as they had leads of 9-4, 17-9 and 27-16, before closing out a big win.

Abbygail Linton, with 13 goals from 17 attempts; Mischa Creary, 12 from 15; Stephanie Anderson, nine from 14 and Taniel Roberts, six from 11, were the top goalscorers for Mico. Melecia Josephs, with eight goals from 11 attempts, was the best shooter for the losers.

UWI LOOKED SMOOTH

UWI Pelicans looked smooth in their 40-30 triumph over UTech Knights, where the Conrad Parkes-coached team controlled all quarters, leading 9-6, 17-12 and 26-22.

Goal attack Rebekah Robinson was tops with 21 from 28, while former national representative, goal shooter Thristina Harwood, had 14 from 32.

National player Khadijah Williams, with 14 from 32, top scored for UTech, with Shenova Edwards assisting her with nine from 17.

Meanwhile, Molynes United 'A' overcame a resilient Mico 'B' 34-27 to book their semi-final spot. It was close going at the start as, after the first quarter, the score was tied 5-5, before Molynes took the lead 15-11 at the second quarter and maintained it to the end. At the end of the third, they were up 22-19.

Former champions Jamalco had already booked their semi-final spot two days earlier.

In tomorrow's semi-finals at the same venue, Jamalco will go up against Molynes United 'A' and UWI Pelicans will face Mico.

Preceding these games, the Minor League semi-finals take the spotlight at 6 p.m., with Waterhouse Eagles playing Global B and Tantrum opposing Queens Park.
