WESTERN BUREAU:

Defending champions Corinaldi Avenue Primary will meet Anchovy in today's final of the Burger King/St James Under-13 netball competition.

Corinaldi dispatched arch-rivals Howard Cooke 19-17 in their semi-final matchup on Monday at the Montego Bay Boys and Girls' Club, venue for the title matchup this afternoon.

In their semi-final, Anchovy had it much easier, registering a lopsided 14-3 win against Hosanna Prep.

Toni-Ann Green scored 10 goals for Hosanna playing in the goal shooter's role, while goal attack Kaliah Godfrey accounted for the remaining four goals.

However, it was the first semi-final that had the attention of all and sundry as Howard Cooke began the contest looking ominous, especially through their goal shooter, Chrishawn Ramsey.

ENTERTAINING WIN

A ding-dong battle ensued all through the four quarters, with goal attack Shelly-Ann Hall of Corinaldi making all the difference. Her accurate shooting accounted for 16 of her team's 17 goals.

Teammate Eshana Tingling played alternate positions, holding down the goal attack role in the first half, scoring two goals, before taking the wing attack bib in the second. It was her all-round game that helped Hall to dominate as much as she did inside the arc.

Howard Cooke have only themselves to blame for not defeating their nemesis as they held the lead with a few minutes remaining in the game but had several unforced errors that Corinaldi capitalised on to seize the lead and held on for the entertaining win.

The third-place play-off will be contested between beaten semi-finalists Howard Cooke and Hosanna Prep at 1 p.m., with the final set to begin at 1:30 p.m.
