T&T Red Force caught in Miller's web

Spinner Nikita Miller produced a career-best performance to lift Jamaica Scorpions to a 132 runs win over Trinidad and Tobago Red Force on the third day of their WICB-Digicel First-Class Championship encounter at Sabina Park yesterday.

Man of the Match Miller, the leading wicket taker last season, claimed nine for 41 as the Red Force, chasing a difficult victory target of 338, were dismissed for 205. The Scorpions skipper ended with match figures of 12 for 84.

Winning mark

The Red Force, who made 206 in reply to the Scorpions first innings total of 314, were set the winning mark following an inspired morning bowling display, which limited the Scorpions to 229, after they had resumed on 148 for four.

Leading the way for Trinidad was leg-spinner Imran Khan, who picked up five for 50.

Jermaine Blackwood, 80 not out overnight, added just one run before he was adjudged leg before wicket. All-rounder Rovman Powell, with a typically attacking 39 off 34 balls, was the next best scorer.

Khan, promoted to opening the batting, top-scored with 52 in the Red Force's second innings.

"They got off to a flyer in the runs chase, but I was not really worried,'' said Miller. "I just tried to put the ball in the right areas. I was not expecting nine wickets, but it worked out well for me and I got my best-ever haul.''

Miller's previous best was eight for 41.

The victory was the Scorpions' second in four matches following a loss and a draw in the others.
