Bailey set for Bayer Leverkusen move

Belgium-based Jamaican winger Leon Bailey is expected to undergo a medical today ahead of a move to German club Bayer Leverkusen.

According to reports out of Europe yesterday, the 19-year-old Bailey has agreed personal terms with the Bundesliga club. However, Bayer Leverkusen are yet to finalise a fee with KRC Genk for the player.

Bayer Leverkusen could pay in excess of £10 million upfront for Bailey.

Bailey had been heavily linked to some of Europe's major clubs, including Manchester United, Liverpool, and Roma. The former Jamaica College player was also shortlisted for the UEFA Golden Boy Award last year.

He had also attracted the interest of English Premier League side Hull City, whose manager, Marco Silva, had declared an interest in him.

The skillful winger has netted eight times and created 10 assists in 35 appearances for Genk so far this season.

Earlier this month, the player's manager, Craig Butler, predicted that Bailey would sign for a top European football club before the January transfer window closes. Butler said then that it was the right time for him to "move to the next level".
