Bank on Ice Princess

With Wednesday's programme proving a nightmare for form players, tomorrow's Front Runner-sponsored race day at Caymanas Park offers a host of carry-overs.

The Pick-9 had no takers and will offer a $1 million carryover, while the second Super-6, embracing races six to 11, boasts a $2.4 million carry-over, and the first, from race one to six, will start at $1.2 million.

We look at the first Super-6, which gets under way with a 3-y-o and up claiming race ($550,000 - $500,000) over 1300 metres to be contested by seven starters, including top contenders ANOTHER FURY, DR. BANNER and the recent winner, HOLOGRAM SHADOW, now up in class after winning over 1100 metres on a $450,000-claiming tag on February 11.

With the stables of trainer Fitzroy Glipsie bang in form, the ex-jockey, having saddled three winners last Saturday, his consistent grey filly, ANOTHER FURY, will prove hard to beat with former champion Wesley Henry now taking the ride.

By He'stherealthing out of Raging Fury, ANOTHER FURY went under in a driving finish to DANCING QUEEN over a mile on February 8, only to be disqualified for causing interference to stable-companion FRANCIA'S PRIDE (a subsequent winner) entering the straight.

She was then ridden by the female apprentice Mellisa Ward, who now gives way to Henry, and even with DR. BANNER enjoying good form and will have to be caught, ANOTHER FURY looks the right choice with 54.0kg.

The second race over 1200 metres provides a five-star banker in the recent runaway winner ICE PRINCESS, to be ridden by 2.0kg claiming apprentice Odean Edwards for in-form trainer Errol Waugh.

WEAK OPPOSITION

A lightly raced 5-y-o mare by Blue Pepsi Lodge out of Premier Solution, ICE PRINCESS won by the resounding margin of 163/4 lengths in fast time (58.0) over the straight in maiden company on December 24, and coming back against weak opposition, looks hard to oppose. QUEENOFSAINTROSE should follow her home.

Race number three for maiden three-year-olds over 1820 metres should see the likes of ROGAMMA, RAKSHA and the stable-companions PROUD OF NUCLEAR and SUBBIE in contention where it matters.

With all unproven over this sort of trip, punters should play it safe, even though the Glispie-trained RAKSHA caught my eye when finishing strongly for third behind BLUE TRADITION and ROGAMMA over 1400 metres recently, this after swerving at the start. She will be ridden by the vastly improved claiming apprentice Anthony Thomas from the convenient mark of 51.0kg, and I take her to beat PROUD OF NUCLEAR, who finished 81/2 lengths second to RADICAL over 1400 metres recently.

The fourth race over 1300 metres looks tailored for LORD EQUUS, who failed by half a length to stave off BIRD CATCHER over 1400 metres on February 4. Former champion jockey Shane Ellis is slated to ride the Patrick Fong-trained LORD EQUUS, who has been knocking at the door and now has old rivals MISTER BONES, MY COMPANION and ZEPHYR to beat in a field of nine.

The last two races in the first Super-6 should be won by the straight five specialist, STAR OF DAVID, and the well-forward first time runner, SIMPLY OUTRAGEOUS, both to be ridden by Jevanne Erwin.
