Ja International Badminton Tourney: Henry, Wynter advance

Jamaica's top singles players, Gareth Henry and Katherine Wynter, easily advanced to the second round of the four-day Jamaica International Badminton Tournament at the National Indoor Sports Centre this morning.


Henry cruised past Jamaican teammate Albert Myles 21-11, 21-11 in the first round of the men's singles, while Wynter beat her compatriot Alana Bailey 21-12, 21-8.

 Milan Dratva of the Czech Republic will be Henry's opponent in the second round at 4 o'clock this afternoon. Wynter will face Canada's Rachel Honderich.


In other results on the opening morning, Dennis Coke beat Christopher Beecher 21-11, 21-8; Craig Allison defeated Kirk Francis 21-13, 21-16 and Luke Couture eliminated Garron Palmer 21-8, 21-16.
