Brathwaite hails seamer Williams

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad (CMC):

Rookie West Indies seamer Kesrick Williams has come in for praise from skipper Carlos Brathwaite for his steady performances during the just-concluded Twenty20 series against Pakistan.

The 27-year-old grabbed only four wickets in his four outings but proved the most economical of the Windies front-line bowlers with a rate of just six runs per over.

Brathwaite said Williams's input was one of the positives which had emerged despite the disappointing 3-1 series defeat.

"I think his performance was excellent. I told him 'congrats, very well done, very, very good series'," Brathwaite told reporters.

"And for a young man, he played his first game in Abu Dhabi and showed the world what he could have done. The challenge is always to come back and do it again, and he did again, again and again. His was one of the standout performances for the series, and that's definitely a positive going forward."
