Title-hopefuls Kingston will attempt to all but secure a spot in the quarterfinals of the two-day Jamaica Cricket Association Senior Cup when they host St Catherine CA in fourth-round action at Sabina Park, starting today.

The TC Campbell-coached Kingston will enter the contest as favourites having been impressive in their two Zone D matches to date.

They have so far recorded two wins from as many starts, while their opponents, who are fourth on four points, are yet to record a victory after their first two matches ended in rain-affected draws.

Expected to lead the Kingston charge are national batsman Brandon King and all-rounder Derval Green, with batsman Garth Garvey, Brian Latore and wicketkeeper Kirk Harris providing support.

HOPES PINNED ON SPINNER

St Catherine CA, in the meantime, are likely to pin their hopes on left-arm spinner Coi Thompson and batsman Shane Cole.

The other match-up in the zone will see second place St Ann on 11 points playing away to bottom-placed St Mary at Three Hills Oval. Third place Trelawny, on six points, has drawn a bye.

The top two teams in the zone, as per the other three zones, will advance to the quarter-finals.

Elsewhere, dethroned champions and Zone C leaders the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) will hunt their second win when they travel to Elgin Town to face second-place Hanover.

The JDF, which in addition have two draws and 12 points, while Hanover with a record of a win and two draws have eight.

Third-place UWI, with a win and a draw for seven points, will play away to St James; and Westmoreland will host St Elizabeth in the zone's other affair.

In Zone B, leaders G.C. Foster are down to visit St Thomas, second-place Manchester will entertain St Catherine CC; and Police will host Kingston and St Andrew.

Meanwhile in Zone A, defending champions Melbourne will be at home to Portland, Lucas is scheduled to host Kensington, while Boys Town and Clarendon will square off at Collie Smith Drive.
