No easing up, says Speid
Technical director of Cavalier Rudolph Speid has promised that he won't be easing up against Sandals South Coast in the final round in the Magnum/Charley's JB/JFF Premier League play-off series today at the Stadium East Complex, starting at 3:30 p.m.
Cavalier have already gained promotion to next season's Red Stripe Premier League, but Sandals South Coast need to avoid defeat in order to join Cavalier.
"There will be no let-up. We are a professional team and approach each game to win," Speid said on Friday.
Last week, Sandals South Coast head coach Aaron Lawrence, who will miss the game due to overseas duty with the Jamaica national Under-15 team, said: "We are not expecting any favours from Cavalier."
Speid said Lawrence is correct. "We won't give any favours as we never expect any," he said.
Speid pointed out that he could expose some players who are not regular starters.
"We have players who don't play regularly, but they are also good players. We are a pro team, and the last time we gained promotion to the RSPL, we had won all six games, so we are a bit disappointed having won twice and drawn three games so far," Speid reasoned.
