LAUSANNE, Switzerland:

Ristananna Tracy, the only Jamaican who will face the starter at tomorrow's Lausanne Diamond League, will be aiming to better her 54.49 seconds season's best for the 400 metres hurdles.

The Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games 400m hurdles finalist will be up against a crack field in the event, the first Diamond League race of the meet, which is set to get under way at 1:03 p.m. Jamaican time.

Tracy will face two athletes who have gone sub-53 seconds so far this season, while only one in the field has gone slower than the Jamaican's best for 2017.

Speaking a few minutes after a workout on the main stadium track here in Lausanne, Tracy said she wanted to run a good race.

"My aim is to go out and execute a good race and hopefully, in the end, I can get a season's best," said Tracy. "I am not intimidated by the strong line-up, as I will just follow my race plan and see what happens," she added.

TOP THREE SPOT

Tracy, who was the Jamaican champion in the event last year but who finished second this time around, said her main plan at the National Senior Championships was to get a top-three spot.

"My aim was to make the team and then fix any issues I have before the World Championships, as going into trials, I was not race sharp," she said.

"I got a season's best there and my training partner (Rhonda Whyte) won and I was happy for her because this will definitely help her mentally, and both of us are going to London," she said.

Tracy, who, several years ago, looked the most gifted Jamaican in the event coming out of high school but had a couple of years of below-par performances, stated that a change of clubs has made a big difference.

"The change has really done wonders for me, as at Sprintec, I am getting more individual attention, especially in my weak areas, and I think I am now getting back a little feel of the high-school training I am used to, and also working out with a good training partner in Rhonda, as we push each other in training," Tracy said.
