Americans highlight Lausanne sprint hurdle clash

Andre Lowe: "The 100m hurdles never fails to excite, and we will see another top field in Lausanne today, with many of the key names in the event entered to compete."

Raymond Graham: "Yes, indeed and it could be redemption time for American Jasmine Stowers, who is the world leader with 12.47 seconds. She surprisingly did not make the USA team for the London World Championships after a disappointing eighth place at their trials."

Andre Lowe: "Stowers will certainly has a point to prove, and she will be motivated by the presence of other Americans Nia Ali and Sharicka Nelvis, who also has an axe to grind after her US trials disappointment, as well as Christina Manning, Kristi Castlin and the veteran Dawn Harper-Nelson, who despite her experience and class, should find things tough here."

Raymond Graham: "I thought Stowers was injured at the trials and that was the reason for her below-par performance, but yesterday, just as she arrived at her hotel here in Lausanne, I asked her if she was OK and she told me she was fine and that she is going to win today, and I do believe she will as she normally does well in a one-off race."

Andre Lowe: "She certainly has all the tools to run a fast time in Lausanne, but I'm beginning to question her ability to perform under pressure and scrutiny."

Raymond Graham: "I don't really like her technique, especially her upper body, which leans too much, but as I said earlier, when it comes to a one-off race, she is dangerous. I do not think Manning and Nelvis will finish ahead of her and her biggest threat is Nia Ali. If there is to be an upset look to Pamela Dutkiewicz of Germany, the Oslo Diamond League winner."

Andre Lowe: "She has gone in the 12.7s region in three of her last four races. Sure, she can be considered a dark horse, I suppose, but the German will likely have to produce something better if she is to finish in front. I like Nelvis for this race. I know she hasn't been great in her last few runs but I think she will find the conditions favourable here. Nelvis gets the better of Stowers more often than not when they go against each other, and I expect that to continue here. Look out for Christina Manning as well."

Raymond Graham: "The track is a fast one and I expect a fast time from Stowers, who will bounce back well and win in around 12.50 seconds with Ali second and the German closing fast to close out a top-three finish."
