LONDON, England:
Janieve Russell produced her best race of the season, taking the women's 400m hurdles at the Müller London Anniversary Games in 54.02 seconds.
Russell, who finished outside of the automatic qualifying spots for Jamaica's team to the World Championships finished ahead of Cassandra Tate, 54.59 and Wanda Nel, 54.73.
Fellow Jamaicans Leah Nugent, 55.02 and Ristananna Tracey, 55.61, were seventh and ninth respectively.
"This win was very important for me to show that one race does not define you," said Russell in reference to her finish at the National Senior Championships.
"I think I executed today's race fairly well, maybe not exactly how my coach wanted it but I ended injury-free so I'm thankful."
