Cornwall on winning trail
Western Bureau:
Coach of defending champions Cornwall College, Dr Dean Weatherly, wants to maintain a 100 per cent record in this year's daCosta Cup.
Cornwall, 4-1 victors over Green Pond last Saturday, remained on a winning trail with a 3-0 victory over Irwin High yesterday in their Zone 'A' fixture. The winners grabbed a foothold in the game as early as the sixth minute with a strike from Denyu Ricketts. Shavon McDonald then scored from the penalty spot in the 30th before Oshane Brown sealed the win for Cornwall in the 61st.
Coach Weatherly described the game as 'a bit sub-par' and wants his players to get more consistent pace into their game ahead of Saturday's clash against St James High.
"I was looking for a game with more pace. We did it in patches ... but we have to go to the drawing board." Weatherly said.
The competition continues today with 17 games.
