Holy Trinity hunt win No. 4
Holy Trinity High's coach, Devon Anderson, said his team will be coming out firing on all cylinders when they take on Edith Dalton James in Group F of the ISSA/FLOW Manning Cup competition today.
Holy Trinity, who made it to the semi-finals of last year's competition, are on top of the group with nine points from three matches. They have scored 13 goals, while conceding three.
However, despite their good form in this year's competition, Anderson told The Gleaner that his team needs to be a lot more clinical in front of goal.
"We are looking to put away most of our chances because in our previous game against Clan Carthy, we got a lot of chances and we only managed to score five goals, and so we are looking to put away most of our chances in this game," said Anderson.
'All guns blazing'
He added: "We are coming out with all guns blazing because we know that goalscoring is very important, and we want to score a lot of goals in this round before we go into the second round of the competition."
Holy Trinity have retained four players from last year's team, including striker Shai Smith, who has netted four goals this season. The other returning members of the squad are Dellion McPherson, Omar Cole and Fabriza Burton.
Anderson noted that his players are very confident and he expects them to do well in the reminder of the competition.
"We have a young team with four senior players from last year and so we have to keep them grounded, because they are very confident and they believe that they can score against all the teams in this competition," said Anderson.
Edith Dalton James, who are yet to win a game in the competition, are second from bottom in the group with two points after their two drawn games.
However, Anderson pointed out that they will not be taking them for granted.
"We are not going to take them lightly because anything can happen, and so we are going there to play good football and to collect all three points," he said.
