Potential $12M purse - announced for SVL 2YO series - Recognises JRC for its role in regulating industry

Supreme Ventures Limited (SVL) launched the 13th staging of its iconic Jamaica 2-year-old Horse Racing Series on Tuesday, announcing a potential $12M in purses, while recognising, through an award, the 45-year-old Jamaica Racing Commission for its service to the industry. The award was presented to JRC Chairman, Anthony Shoucair by SVL Group Chairman, Paul Hoo.

"The JRC continues to stay true to its mission of ensuring that Jamaica has a strong horseracing industry, with honesty and integrity in the promotion of the rules that govern all aspects of the industry. We commend your strong regulatory framework for the industry, and the facilitation of its growth and improvement through your work," Mr. Hoo said.

He added that collaboration with the JRC and other stakeholders has had a positive impact on the sport on various fronts.

Mr Shoucair thanked SVL and Supreme Ventures Racing and Entertainment Limited (SVREL) for the award, stating that the regulators aren't often recognised and appreciated, largely due to their regulatory role. He expressed gratitude to the entity for the recognition, noting that the JRC was committed to the sustained growth and development of horse racing in Jamaica.

This year SVL will be in the driver's seat as both sponsor and track operators, through SVREL.Assistant Vice President, Group Corporate Communications, Simone Clarke-Cooper, says SVL will also stick to their winning formula of superb racing and cash-rich, on-the-ground promotions.

"Punters who make a single ticket purchase of $300 or more for the Cash Pot game from the SVL promotional booths at the Track, will get a coupon to complete correctly to enter for the Dip in the Cash Pot promotion, for a chance to win up to $260,000 on that day," she said.She added that for this year's edition of the popular Triple Entry promotion, all the prizes will be cash prizes including a grand prize of $100,000.

The Triple Series opens on October 14 with the Cash Pot Race Day, with the 1200M Cash Pot 'Only One for Me' Trophy and an attractive purse of $3.25 million. The series continues with Pick 3 Race Day, where Jamaica's best 2-year-old thoroughbreds will compete for the Pick 3 Super Challenge Trophy purse of $3.6 million on November 25.

The series culminates with the Supreme Ventures Race Day on Boxing Day, December 26, 2017 with the Supreme Ventures Limited Jamaica 2-Year-Old Stakes and a $4.25 million purse. Any horse that can capture all three trophy races will win the $1 million bonus.
