Faithful Foster - Reno striker patiently waiting for Reggae Boyz chance

Despite being constantly overlooked by the senior national team, prolific Reno striker Craig Foster says he is not disheartened.

Foster insists that it's just 'not his time', but intends to continue his improvements until the opportunity to play in the national colours arrive.

Foster joins a list of top local strikers to be snubbed by the national outfit during their prime. These include Foster's present Reno coach, Michael Graham, Byron Earle, Kevin Lamey, and Roen Nelson. However, the most recent and famous case is that of Jermaine 'Tuffy' Anderson, who Foster himself uses as a motivation and inspiration that his time will in fact arrive.

"I am not really disappointed," said Foster in reference to being overlooked for Saturday's friendly international against Saudi Arabia. "I don't feel no way. Probably, it's just not my time as yet. All I have to do is continue to score goals until I get the opportunity. I have never tried to question the national programme and why they don't select me. I just think it's not my time as yet, so I just have to wait and do what I have to do."

The 26-year-old was called up to a local squad for the Peru friendly in July and the Caribbean Cup, but has never been selected to the final squad.

'NOT MY TIME'

"Everybody has to wait their time. Jermaine Anderson had to wait how long before he got his opportunity and he did what he had to do in the little space of time. So it is not my time, and when my time comes, I am going to get it. So I am just patient and waiting," he insisted.

"I am trying to have a healthy season, and for now, I am not thinking about it [selection for national team]. I am focused on what I have to do, and if the opportunity comes I will take it," Foster said.

Meanwhile, the Reno ace, known for his regular overseas stints, wants a full season with the western Jamaica club and hopes to lead his teammates to the play-offs.

"You never know what the future brings. I can get up and get a call tomorrow. But once I am in the league, I will always be in that (top scorers') batch. The aim is to continue scoring and hope that the opportunity comes, and when the opportunity comes, I will do what I have to do," Foster said.
